Alex, a spirited teenager in Michigan, is determined to fulfill his mother Ileana's dream of graduating from Harvard. Ileana, a Romanian immigrant and professor, struggles with her mental health, often neglecting her treatment, which forces Alex into the foster care system. At 16, he takes a stand and secures legal emancipation, resolute in his mission to take control of their lives. With unwavering resolve, he embarks on a journey to create a stable future for both himself and his mother, navigating the challenges of adolescence and familial love in the process.
