First Gentleman

Overview

Ornithologist Hiyori (Kei Tanaka) prepares for a ten-day birdwatching expedition, blissfully unaware that his wife, Rinko (Miki Nakatani), is on the verge of becoming Japan’s first female prime minister. Before he departs, she questions whether her new role would disrupt his life. Isolated on a remote island, Hiyori immerses himself in nature, only to return home to a drastically changed political landscape. Now the first gentleman, he is determined to support Rinko as she navigates the complexities of leadership, but soon finds himself entangled in unexpected challenges that test their relationship and his own identity.
