Overview

In the picturesque setting of Vermont, Ives Towner, a college student, is hesitant to marry his devoted girlfriend, Julie Weir, until he establishes his career. Fate intervenes when Julie encounters charismatic writer Michael Shaw, and they quickly marry, relocating to Paris. Tragedy strikes with Michael's untimely death, prompting Julie and her daughter to return to Vermont to stay with her aunt. There, she discovers Ives has become a professor, but he shows little interest in rekindling their past romance, leaving Julie to confront the complex emotions of lost love and new beginnings.
