Overview

Spring 2011 in Damascus marks a turbulent time as civil war looms. Nahla, a 25-year-old woman, grapples with her yearning for independence amid the pressure of an arranged marriage to Samir, a Syrian expatriate in the U.S. However, when Samir opts for her submissive younger sister Myriam instead, Nahla seeks solace in the enigmatic presence of her neighbor, Ms. Jiji.
