Overview

César operates a bustling bar by the port of Marseille, where his 23-year-old son, Marius, helps him. Marius shares a deep bond with Fanny, his childhood companion, but a yearning for adventure pulls him away whenever a ship whistles. When the older M. Panisse proposes to Fanny and a departing clipper offers Marius a chance to escape, both must confront their true desires.
