Overview

Robert Merivel, a young doctor, catches the attention of King Charles II after saving a royal's life. Elevated to courtly status, he enjoys the luxuries of his new role but is soon ordered to marry the King’s mistress to quell the Queen’s jealousy. Despite a strict warning from the King not to fall in love, Merivel finds himself captivated by his wife. When the King discovers this betrayal, he strips Merivel of his title and wealth. Stripped of his privileges, Merivel embarks on a journey that rekindles his passion for genuine medicine and the true essence of being a physician.
