Overview

Catherine Solska returns to her village after the stress of entrance exams for pedagogy, only to find her family secretly orchestrating her engagement to the wealthy Kolasa. Overwhelmed and desperate, she tries to resist their plans but feels trapped in her room. During a visit from her fiancé, she escapes through the window, hoping for news from the university. Misled by the mail, she believes she has been rejected and reluctantly consents to the marriage. Just before the wedding, the postman delivers her acceptance letter to college, turning her world upside down once more.
