Overview

In the harsh winter of 1943, the German forces impede the American troops in the Italian mountains, leading to fierce fighting that leaves Joe Peterson’s platoon in ruins. While on leave in Naples, Joe encounters WAC lieutenant Eleanor MacKay, whose icy demeanor begins to thaw amidst the chaos of a bombing raid. Their love story unfolds even as Joe is repeatedly called back to battle, raising questions about his fate and whether he will survive to return to her side.
