Overview

On August 24, 1992, Rostock, East Germany, became a battleground as a violent mob, cheered on by over 3,000 onlookers, attacked a residential building housing more than 120 Vietnamese families. Known as "The Night of the Fire," this tragic event highlighted the surge of xenophobia in newly reunified Germany. The narrative unfolds through the eyes of three distinct characters, each offering a unique perspective on the chaos and its aftermath, exploring the deep-seated prejudices that fueled the riots and the human stories caught in the turmoil.
