Overview

Xiang Zi, a determined rickshaw puller, yearns for a better life and freedom. After marrying Hu Niu, tragedy strikes when she dies during childbirth. Heartbroken, he meets Xiao Fuzi, who loves him, but their dreams remain unfulfilled due to their harsh realities. As Xiang Zi tirelessly toils to improve his circumstances, hope seems within reach until he learns of Xiao Fuzi's untimely death. Faced with relentless despair and societal darkness, he ultimately succumbs, revealing the harsh realities of life and dreams unachieved in a struggling world.
