Overview

Christopher Cross, a cashier with dreams of being an artist, becomes infatuated with the enchanting Kitty March. Although she feigns interest, her true affection lies with Johnny, a petty criminal. When Kitty and Johnny discover that art dealers are eager to showcase Chris's talent, they manipulate him into allowing Kitty to claim the credit for his creations. Blindly in love, Chris agrees to their scheme, but as his feelings deepen, he begins to realize that his devotion may lead to his downfall, revealing the limits of his love for her.
