Overview

Set against the backdrop of West Virginia's coalfields, "Matewan" highlights the struggle for workers' rights during a 1920s labor strike. Union organizer Joe Kenehan teams up with a scab known as "Few Clothes" Johnson, along with a supportive mayor and police chief.
