Overview

Condemned murderer Clement (Jean Gabin) finds an unexpected chance for freedom when a Nazi bombing obliterates the French prison where he is held. Seizing the moment, he steals the uniform and identification of a fallen French soldier. Disguised, he integrates into the Resistance, where he discovers a renewed sense of purpose.
