Overview

In April 1988 on Ouvéa Island, New Caledonia, a group of Kanak freedom fighters seizes 30 gendarmes as hostages, prompting France to dispatch 300 soldiers to restore order. Central to the conflict are Philippe Legorjus, the head of the anti-terror squad, and Alphonse Dianou, the leader of the kidnappers. Despite their common values, the political climate, heightened by an impending presidential election, complicates their attempts at dialogue. This gripping and intense narrative showcases Mathieu Kassovitz's return as both director and lead, exploring the thin line between morality and order in a turbulent time.
