Inside the Forbidden City

Overview

Li Zhenfei, a former imperial concubine, finds herself locked in a fierce rivalry with Madame Liu, vying for the emperor's affection. After giving birth to the emperor's son, Liu, consumed by jealousy, orchestrates a cruel plot to switch the infant with a cat and orders a servant, Kou Zhu, to eliminate the baby. Instead, Kou Zhu delivers the child to the emperor's brother, leading to an unexpected adoption by the emperor. As a new family forms, with Liu as the emperor’s new wife, Li remains imprisoned within the palace, longing for her son. Their eventual reunion raises questions of love, betrayal, and justice.
