Overview

Rick Mason schemes to exploit the patriotic sentiments of a war widow, persuading her to invest her savings in a fake memorial. As he develops genuine feelings for her, guilt begins to gnaw at his conscience. However, Mason's ruthless con-artist boss doesn't take kindly to any wavering in their dishonest plans, using intimidation and violence to keep him in line.
