In 1975, acclaimed French documentarian Pierre Dominique Gaisseau ventured to Panama to film the Kuna, an indigenous island community, alongside his wife and daughter. Over a year, he earned their trust and documented their sacred rituals, promising to return the film to them— a promise he never fulfilled. Now, half a century later, the Kuna still await their story, which has become a cherished legend. When a long-lost copy surfaces in Paris, Swiss-Panamanian filmmaker Andrés Peyrot explores this poignant narrative, questioning documentary ethics while celebrating the profound impact of representation on screen.
