Overview

In the year 2199, Earth lies in ruins after a brutal invasion by the Gamilons, forcing the remnants of humanity to seek refuge underground. Former pilot Susumu Kodai stumbles upon a capsule from Iscandar, revealing a device capable of cleansing the planet’s radiation. In a desperate bid for survival, the Earth Defense Force reconstructs the battleship Yamato, equipping it with an advanced propulsion system for a daunting journey of 148,000 light years to Iscandar. Time is running out, as humanity faces extinction within a year due to the relentless radiation.
