Irena's Vow

Overview

Nineteen-year-old Irena Gut rises to the position of housekeeper for a prominent Nazi officer in Poland, only to discover that the nearby Jewish ghetto faces imminent destruction. Driven by compassion, she chooses to hide twelve Jewish workers in the most secure location she can find—the basement of her employer's home. For the next eight months, Irena relies on her resourcefulness, humor, and remarkable bravery to protect her friends from danger, navigating a perilous landscape of war and oppression while risking her own life to provide them sanctuary.
