Overview

Wayland Jackson, a grieving widower with a young daughter, relocates to a struggling mountain town in North Carolina during the Great Depression. There, he finds solace in the company of Collie Wright, a single mother raising her illegitimate child. As their bond deepens into romance, their idyllic life takes a turn for the worse when the truth about the baby's father comes to light, stirring conflict and challenging their newfound happiness.
