Overview

Brainy doctoral student Sarah is on the verge of relocating to Ohio with her married boyfriend when tragedy strikes with her mother's unexpected death. Inheriting a cherished Christian bookstore in the Bronx, she finds herself overwhelmed by family expectations and the challenge of planning a respectful funeral. Complicating matters, her estranged father reenters her life. Surrounded by a unique cast of Eastern European neighbors, spirited African aunties, and a pragmatic ex-con coworker, Sarah navigates her new responsibilities while striving to stay true to her own identity amidst the chaos.
