Fifteen-year-old Vicky Austin arrives on Seven Bay Island with her siblings, Suzy and Rob, to visit their ailing grandfather, Reverend Eaton, who is hiding his illness. Amidst family concerns, Vicky reunites with Zachary Gray, a wealthy boy with emotional struggles, and meets Adam Eddington, a 17-year-old who enlists her help for a research project involving a dolphin named Basil.
