In late November 1939, Finland faces a brutal invasion by Russia. The narrative centers on a platoon of reservists from Kauhava, a municipality in Pohjanmaa. Among them are brothers Martti and Paavo Hakala, both farmers who must leave their peaceful lives behind to join the fight.
