Overview

Set in 1920s Romania, young Mihail returns to his village after years abroad, hoping to propose to the recently widowed Elena. However, his resolve falters, prompting him to seek advice from the village priest. Complications arise when Mihail learns that Elena has caught the eye of another man, Mândru. As the villagers excitedly plan a wedding for the pair, Elena grapples with her own feelings. Torn between Mândru and the realization of Mihail's affections, she ultimately finds herself walking down the aisle with him, amidst the villagers' joyful celebrations.
