Overview

Frederick Ermler's final silent film, marking his fourth collaboration with Fiodor Nikitin, centers on an officer grappling with amnesia a decade post-World War I. His life changes when he catches sight of a woman from a train, triggering fragments of his lost memories. As he journeys back to St. Petersburg, now Leningrad, he finds himself disoriented and out of place in a society transformed by revolution.
