Overview

In 1947, Lord Mountbatten takes on the role of the final Viceroy of India, tasked with overseeing the country’s transition to independence. Residing in the opulent upper floors of the British colonial residence, he navigates the complexities of a nation on the brink of division. Meanwhile, the bustling lower levels house a diverse staff of 500 Hindu, Muslim, and Sikh servants, whose lives intertwine with the unfolding political drama.
