Illya travels to Berlin to assist, joined by Harry Beldon, a counterpart from Section 1. Beldon harbors suspicions that either Solo or Gerald Struthers might be responsible for the crime, while Illya focuses on Beldon’s secretary, Helga Deniken, as a potential suspect. However, the real betrayal comes from Beldon himself, who has sinister plans to eliminate Waverly during the conference.
