The stunning Victorian Civil Courtroom, a centerpiece of the Galleries, dates back to 1887 and operated until 1986, hosting numerous high-profile libel and divorce trials. Additionally, a gaol has existed here since 1449, with its extensive cells and corridors once housing both the condemned and those facing deportation to Australia.
