Afton discovers Bobby wounded in J.R.'s office. Lucy suspects that J.R. set up Peter. Ray warns J.R. about the threat posed by Randolph. Following their confrontation with Peter, Sue Ellen and J.R. establish a new "marital arrangement." Lucy, J.R., and Sue Ellen hurry to Dallas Memorial as Bobby undergoes surgery. J.R. realizes the assailant was targeting him. With the arrival of Tract 340, Cliff is thrilled, but Bobby’s bullet wound leaves him blind. Marilee confronts J.R. after Cliff strikes oil, and Afton suspects Cliff of shooting Bobby. Meanwhile, Jenna and Pam visit Bobby in the hospital, and an assassination attempt is made on J.R.
