In 1667, young King Louis XIV of France seeks to assert his authority while grappling with the lingering trauma from the Fronde, a rebellion of the nobility that occurred during Louis XIII's rule. Despite facing threats from conspirators, Louis XIV makes a bold decision to move the center of power from Paris to Versailles. Originally a simple hunting lodge, he envisions a grand transformation for the estate, determined to reshape it into a symbol of his reign and control.
