The family grapples with the heartbreaking news about JJ. Concerned for Helen's well-being, Beth recommends she visit a psychiatrist, which angers Jack. Despite his disapproval, Helen ultimately seeks help. Meanwhile, Meg is uncertain about how to address JJ during an upcoming assembly. In a twist, a Frenchman discovers JJ alive, but when he realizes JJ's involvement in the deaths of American soldiers, JJ must flee for his safety. As a meteor shower triggers a citywide blackout, Chris takes Meg to enjoy the spectacle. Back at home, Beth unexpectedly goes into labor during the outage and gives birth to John Pryor III.
