Overview
Nela Langenbeck serves as a commissioner in the Hamburg police force, where she battles not only crime but also the deeply ingrained misogyny of the 1990s police culture. Despite her determination, she and her fellow officers are often dismissed, relegated to roles akin to secretaries—making coffee and organizing paperwork. Langenbeck is deep into the investigation of Raik Doormann, a notorious murderer who needs to be captured. He abducts, tortures, and kills women in his secluded bunker, disposing of their remains in acid barrels, all to fund his dream of escaping to Costa Rica. As Langenbeck follows the trail of this brutal killer, she uncovers horrifying truths that grip the nation.
