Novak is on a mission to locate Benson since the case involving Chelsea Arndale, a previous rape victim, relies heavily on her account. Meanwhile, Benson, still under the alias Persephone James, has been detained in Oregon after getting caught up in a clash between the ecologist group she has infiltrated and the local authorities. When the sheriff hints that her group is being scrutinized for a recent murder, Benson takes it upon herself to dig deeper. Her investigation reveals that the victim had a troubling history as a pedophile, and discovering his secret hideout leads her to a startling revelation.
