Despite Palermo's objections, a Lieutenant from Santa Monica Metro assigns Chris to go undercover to investigate a man involved in laundering money for Latino drug cartels. Her mission involves hacking into his computer to gather crucial evidence. However, as she spends time with the mysterious tech genius, Chris starts to question her own emotions. When he shares his plans to retire and suggests they escape together to a secluded island, she finds herself tempted by the idea. Meanwhile, Cory ends her relationship with her affluent boyfriend, Steven, who pleads for another chance and promises to change. After she firmly rejects him, he retaliates with a calculated psychological campaign against her and her family, ensuring his actions remain hidden.
