Episode Overview
Nick looks into a pair of suspicious barn fires that have occurred recently. During this time, a young woman is attacked in a barn by her new boyfriend. Her friend, Sandra Murry—who is Alan Maskell's girlfriend—urges her to go to the police about the incident. It turns out that this boyfriend is also behind the barn fires. Additionally, a local woman's horse keeps escaping its paddock, raising Nick's concerns about a potential accident. Kate gets into another spat with Ferrenby after connecting Sandra with a family planning clinic for birth control advice. Meanwhile, Greengrass tips off Nick about a poaching gang and their capture plans. The police set up an operation, successfully apprehending a couple of poachers, only to later discover from Lord Ashfordly that a larger gang has been depleting fish from the river upstream.
