Episode Overview

After severing ties with its allies, Enver Hoxha plunges Albania into a state of geopolitical isolation, intensifying his fears of an impending invasion and threats to his authority. His initial strategy, dubbed Bunkerization, leads to the construction of hundreds of thousands of bunkers across the nation, preparing citizens for guerrilla warfare against the phantom enemy he envisions. However, the ambitious plan soon spirals into disaster, pushing the country toward financial collapse due to the immense costs involved. Still seeking greater security, Hoxha develops the massive bunkers BUNK'ART 1 and BUNK'ART 2, and then focuses on Corovoda, his mountain stronghold known as The Capital of War.
