Favor intervenes just in time to prevent Talby from shooting Johnny Camber, whom Talby believes is Billy Carter, the man responsible for his daughter’s death. Meanwhile, Clark confronts Carl Myers, accusing him of being both a thief at the trail camp and a card cheat. In a bold move, Favor resolves to guide the herd across the parched plains during the toughest season, leading to growing doubts among the men about his decision-making. Ultimately, this results in the departure of all but six of his crew.
