The team resumes their probe into a notorious serial killer from years gone by, chasing leads on "The Puppeteer," who keeps his victims' bodies for a time before getting rid of them. At the same time, Brennan grapples with feelings of guilt related to her retirement last year, convinced she could have prevented the killer's reign of terror. Unbeknownst to her, she may be facing some dangers of her own.
