Her innovative sculptures were finally garnering the acclaim they deserved. Tragically, Hesse's life was cut short by a brain tumor in May 1970. The documentary American Masters explores her remarkable journey, highlighting her groundbreaking work with fiberglass and latex, and offers insights into the creative circles of 1960s New York and Germany through numerous interviews and newly uncovered archival material.
