Fredrika is heavily pregnant with her first child, and the abduction of two Jewish boys hits especially close to home for her. Unfortunately, the investigation hits a dead end, and soon after, the boys are discovered murdered, their bodies hidden beneath a paper bag in the snow. This gruesome event echoes the old Israeli fairy tale "Paper Boy," who roams the night, harming innocent children. Just days later, a young teacher at a Jewish school is shot, leaving the connections between the incidents unclear. Fredrika travels to Belgium to visit the grandparents of one of the boys, hoping to uncover the family's tragic history, but her efforts yield little. Meanwhile, Efraim, the overly dedicated security chief at the school, conducts his own investigation, further complicating matters for the police team. Tension escalates when Polly, the sister of one of the murdered boys, goes missing. Will the team manage to find her in time?
