When a couple's remains are unearthed in a cave at the National Park, the team races to uncover their identities and solve the mystery surrounding their deaths. After questioning two potential suspects, they determine that the woman was a marketing executive who also acted as her partner's AA sponsor, which provides vital clues to unraveling the case. Meanwhile, Booth's girlfriend, Hannah Burley, an Afghanistan war correspondent, makes an unexpected appearance. Meeting Hannah and witnessing the couple's authentic happiness prompts Brennan to reflect on her own relationship with Booth, who seeks to show her that love isn't always guided by logic.
