Overview
Aired on ABC in 1980, One in a Million starred comedienne Shirley Hemphill, who previously gained fame from What's Happening!!. Despite its promising premise, the sitcom lasted only 13 episodes before cancellation. Set in New York City, it follows Shirley Simmons, a witty taxi driver who unexpectedly inherits Grayson Enterprises after the death of its founder, Jonathan Grayson, a regular passenger. Embracing her new role as CEO, Shirley takes on the stuffy corporate world, particularly targeting the arrogant vice president, Roland Cushing, with the help of Nancy, Grayson’s secretary. Notable cast members included Richard Paul and Carl Ballantine.
