Episode Overview

One Sunday morning, Muriel Gerard returns from church with her mother, only to discover her husband, Andrew—a former DCS from Scotland Yard—dead from a gunshot wound. She quickly informs Nick, who arrives with Kate to confirm the tragic news. A large-scale murder investigation kicks off, led by DCI Merton and DC Langdon, who comes up from London. Langdon, a longtime friend of Nick's, stays at the police house with him and Kate. Initially, suspicion falls on Muriel, especially after it’s revealed that Andrew had abused her. However, as Muriel is taken into custody, Nick realizes that her mother, Victoria Wainwright, is actually the killer, leading to a shocking confession.
